Alice Kuiper (m. deJong) visited sons Roelof and Murk in Holland in 1969.

Died at Johanna's (m. Abe Kooistra) house in Chester, NJ.

Arrived Ellis Island, New York, 5/7/1913. Destination was listed as
Whitesboro, New York. They were sponsored (?) by Alice Kuiper's (his wife)
sister, Jentje Hielkema (Korf) m. Ralph Korf. SS Noordham out of Rotterdam,

U.S. Citizen 2/29/1929 in Clifton, NJ, "special" as made name change on this
document from Roelof Kuiper to Ralph Kuiper. 5'6", Brn eyes.

CAUSE OF DEATH: Carcinoma of the Stomach (copy from mortuary records).


"Funeral svcs for Ralph Kuiper, 82, husband of the late Alice Kielkema Kuiper,
formerly of Clifton, will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m., in the funeral home of
P.E. Plavier and Sons, 519 Marshall St, corner Hazel Rd.

Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery and friends may call after 6 p.m. today.

Mr. Kuiper died yesterday in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Johanna Koostra
[that should read Kooistra], Old Rd., Chester.

He was born in The Netherlands, the son of Hendrick and Jenny Kuiper. He had
lived in this country for the past 32 years and in Clifton until five years
ago. He was a farmer by occupation.

Mr. Kuiper leaves four sons, Doekle and Henry of The Netherlands; Arnold of
Prospect Park, and Richard of Branchville; two daughters, Mrs. Koostra of
Chester; and Mrs. Jennie Douma of Norwalk, Cal.; also several nieces and

to United States (for whole family?)

Katherine Kuiper remembers going to Pake and Beppe's down River Road to
Clifton, New Jersey. Kate would have been 6 when Beppe died.

No record of naturalization.

CAUSE OF DEATH: Myocardial Failure (from mortuary records).

Have burial certificate in Fries.


Could read and write. Very rare in his time. Wrote for other people in
Luinjeberd who couldn't. (Per Jenny Douma 5/3/78).

I think I remember seeing a picture of Adam at Uncle Ralph's house during thier
wedding anniversary party. Picture was in a collage on wall in dining room.
Will check with Ralph. Fuzzy memory.
